Things you should know about Ice Machines

There are a number of reasons; people can need a commercial ice machine. Some families like to keep it in their garage or the basement area. Ice making machines are most commonly found in the industry of hospitality, such as hotels, restaurants, country clubs, resorts etc.  Here are some things a business owner or anyone who is planning to own such a machine should know.

There are many forms of ice machines; a modular ice machine and ice bin, an under the counter ice machine and a self contained ice machine. The modular ice machine and ice bin is perhaps the most commonly known Ice machine. A modular ice machine is used to make ice, where as an ice bin is used to store the ice.

Now let’s talk about the self contained ice machine, unlike the modular one, it is one single unit. The icemaker and the ice bin are built together; people do not prefer it as much as the others because self contained ice makers do not provide much capacity as the modular ice maker.

The third option is the under the counter ice machine. As the name suggests, it can fit under the counter and is very compact. This is very convenient and ideal for a small bar, it has a low capacity and is easy to carry and use.

Since now you understand the different types of ice machine on the basis of its space and capacity, you must learn about the different types of ice cubes these machines dispense. For different occasions, people need different forms of ice. These shapes are diced cubes, contour cubes, flakes and nuggets.

A diced ice is usually known as the regular ice. These regular ices are the ones we mix in carbonated beverages, cocktails and other drinks. The contour ice cubes are also used in beverages and it has a shape that allows the liquid to flow over easily, thus reducing the splashes.

These are few of the many things; one would like to take into consideration while planning to buy an icemaker machine.
